May 1, 2021 is the date of the next General Election.
The first day an application for a place on the ballot can be filed is January 13, 2021. The last day an application for a place on the ballot can be filed is February 12, 2021. Please see the Notice of Deadline to File Applications for filing details:

MAY 1, 2021 GENERAL ELECTION – Early Voting and Election Day Voting to be held at the Steven E. Copeland Government Center, located at 1400 FM 424, Cross Roads, Texas 76227. The Town of Cross Roads will hold an election on Saturday, May 1, 2021 for three (3) Town Council Members. (Posted in accordance with H.B. No. 305, effective September 1, 2019.)
The first day to file an Application for Place on Ballot for the May 1, 2021 General Election will be January 13, 2021. The last day to file an Application for Place on Ballot will be February 12, 2021. The last day to file as a write-in candidate will be February 12, 2021.

Type A City (Local Gov’t Code, Section 22.032)
- Mayor
1. Residence — 1 year in state prior to the filing deadline; 1 year in town prior to election day
2. Age — 18
3. Must be a registered voter in territory elected from by the filing deadline
- Council Member
1. Residence — 1 year in state prior to filing deadline; 6 months in the town prior to filing deadline (Texas Elec. Code, Section 141.001(a); Brown v. Patterson, 609 SW 2nd 287)
2. Age — 18
